Jan Kristensen, CPO

Jan has more than 25 years of clinical experience working as a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist.

In 1990, Jan started working as a clinician in Iceland together with Mr. Össur Kristinsson, the entrepreneur, innovator, and founder of Össur.

He moved to California in 1996 to become the head of education at Össur USA.

From 1997 until 2013, Jan managed patients at a P&O facility in Denmark.

From 2010, he was involved in getting the Swedish Branemark method of osseointegration started and implemented in Denmark.

As of August 2013, Jan has been living in Shanghai, China, as the director of Össur Academy APAC.

Charles Wang, MS, CP

Charles holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University.

In 2011 he completed the certificate program in prosthetics at Northwestern and trained as a resident Prosthetist at the VA Hospital in Long Beach, California.

He is currently a Certified Prosthetist by the ABC in the United States.

Charles moved to Shanghai, China, in November 2012 and is currently working as a Clinical and Technical Manager of Össur Academy APAC.

Steven Zhang, CP

Steven has more than 15 years clinical experience working as a Prosthetist in China.

In 1999, Steven started working as a technician and received his Prosthetist certification in 2007. In 2006, Steven moved to Beijing working as a Senior Prosthetist and Technical Manager.

In 2009, Steven joined Össur Asia and has since been the China Prosthetic Technical and Education manager. He is currently based in Shanghai, China.

Nick completed his Diploma of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences in 1983 with degree conversion Bachelor Applied Science Prosthetics & Orthotics, La Trobe University in 1993. Further studies include Graduate Diploma Health Administration, La Trobe University (1989) and Graduate Diploma Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Swinburne University (2000). Prior to working with Össur, Nick established the Royal Melbourne Hospital Prosthetic Orthotic Department and subsequent service delivery models within the acute, rehabilitation and community setting for amputees. In 2007 he joined Össur Asia and is responsible for clinical education in Japan.

Christopher Wallis, CPO

Christopher graduated from LaTrobe University with a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2004. Upon graduating, Chris began working clinically as an Orthotist covering all aspects of orthotic management, with a focus on Orthopaedic and Neurological injuries and conditions. In 2009, Chris joined Össur Australia as a Regional Manager, providing Clinical Sales, Support, and Education to clinical customers, before taking up the role as APAC Clinical and Education Manager for OA and Injury Solutions in late 2016.

Sarah Mulroy, CPO

Sarah qualified as a Prosthetist/Orthotist in 2008, graduating from Salford University with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Sarah worked as a Prosthetist in the UK in London and Surrey for 7 years before moving to Australia in February 2015. Initially Sarah worked at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton between 2008-2012, gaining experience in a specialised rehabilitation setting working with all levels of amputees, including the paediatric clinic which saw referrals from within the UK and globally.

In 2012 Sarah began working at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court, Surrey which provides prosthetic intervention for injured soldiers, mainly suffering from multiple high level traumatic amputations from improvised explosive devices.

In 2016 Sarah moved to Sydney and joined Ossur as Clinical specialist in Prosthetics, providing clinical education programmes in Australia and New Zealand.

Cathy Howells, Physiotherapist

Cathy graduated from Cumberland College of Health Sciences in 1985 with an Applied Science Degree in Physiotherapy. She worked at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where she was the Senior Physiotherapist in charge of the Amputee Unit from 1988-94.

Cathy has worked exclusively with amputees for over 25 years. attending and presenting papers and workshops at local, national and international conferences.

Cathy’s experience in treating amputees spans from consulting at the Children’s Hospital to adults who have undergone amputation due to vascular disease, trauma, cancer and infection. She has treated patients from the pre-operative stage, through rehabilitation, to returning to work and sport right through to the Paralympic Games.

She is currently Consultant Amputee Physiotherapist to APC Prosthethics Northmead, Sydney, NSW 2152 Australia.
